Turramurra Rotary Club is a diverse group of professional, business and community members, men and women, who act to make a difference by serving and giving something back to the community. Together, we see a world where people connect, unite and take action to create lasting change for good - in our communities, across the world and in ourselves.

Making a Difference!

starfishAfter a massive storm thousands of starfish were stranded on a beach and a little girl, seeing them stranded, began to throw them back into the water one by one. As she did so an old man walked by.
"Little girl, little girl, can't you see there are thousands of starfish stranded. You'll never make a difference," he said.
"I can for this one," she replied, throwing another starfish back into the water.

This is the philosophy Ku-ring-gai Rotary. The challenges locally and globally are huge, but by rolling up our sleeves and using the Rotary network which ensures every dollar goes where it's supposed to we can make a whole host of small differences and those small differences add up. For example, we assisted in the first East Timor Rotary Youth Leadership Program. One of our members helped oversee the first course in Dili. We also sent two young Australian volunteers to Uganda where, with the support of the local Rotary Club of M'kono they helped the local people build a much needed school.

"We can for this one."

Developing the next generation

hands2We believe: "It is the responsibility of each Rotarian to prepare the next generation – all young people up to the age of 30 – by improving their life skills to ensure a better future. We undertake projects that support the fundamental needs of Youth: health, human values, education, leadership and self development."

Graffiti Removal Project

The Rotary Club of Turramurra aims to eliminate existing graffiti in the local community and keep it graffiti free by:

Providing a programme aimed at private, business, public facilities and public infrastructure sitesGrafitiTlr 300

  • Establishing communication and reporting networks to effectively and efficiently maintain a graffiti free community
  • Establishing recognized practices and procedures for cleaning graffiti sites thus promoting a professional approach with emphasis on the safety of the individuals involved or associated with this activity
  • Using strategies involving support, co-operation and liaison with Turramurra and other Rotarians, local Government, project sponsors and other interested groups such as schools, progress associations, local newspapers etc.
  • Encouraging community education and using specific initiatives to deter activities of graffiti artists – in particular, rapid removal and monitoring recently cleaned sites to ensure immediate repeat clean up action for any recurring graffiti.
